hi, I have had my glasses for around 6 months now and have had NO success with them. When I plug them in to my Elsa III card and download the appropriate drivers they just flicker randomly. I can get the games into 3d mode but the glasses have no correlation with the game. One lense will flicker a few times a second while the other lens does its own thing too... I have tried to contact elsa and I have read their support files but can find nothing that tells me how to fix this problem. I really would like to see my games in 3d (ps. Is it worth all of the hassel?) because thats why I got the stupid glasses for in the first place. Does it possibly have something to do with the glasses lack of controler?(what ever that means...) PLEASE help, I beg of you.

: >>>I can get the games into 3d mode

: So you see a double image?

: You may have a severe resource problem (IRQ) or your glasses are defective.

: What VGA-board are you using and do you have wired or wireless Revelator?

: If it's wireless look for sources of IR-radiation, i.e. a hot lamp or something.

: Christoph
christoph,

Yes, i see the double images and can adjust them but the problem is my glasses don't flicker appropriately with the game. The glasses just kinda do their own thing... The glasses are the wired version and my graphics card is an Elsa Erazor III w/ a tnt 2 chip and 32 megs of ram.

This could be a DDC-conflict with your monitor or a severe case of IRQ-conflict.
In theory your glasses could be defective, but I think it's rather unlikely.

Do you have a monitor with DDC (display data channel)?

Have you checked the troubleshooting guide from the ELSA website?

I have read through the guide elsa's website and it didn't help me... I am not sure what dcc is nor how to check to see if my monitor has it. Do I want a monitor with dcc? If I have a monitor with(or without, which ever is causing the conflicts) how would I go about remedying the problem? Anyway, I will ask my dad to check out what you have said so far and see if he can make heads or tails of it. Thanks for your help so far, I really do appreciate it! Looking forward to seeing some 3d gaming soon...

Kelly,
I also had a major problem with my glasses that was caused by my own fault, really. I use a switch that allows me to connect up to 4 pc's to the same monitor, keyboard and mouse. Well, I was getting random flickers too because of the switch so be sure your monitor is connected directly to the glasses cable and that is directly into the computer.

If Cristoph is right and it is a DDC problem you will need to buy a VGA extender cable and remove pins 12 and 15 to disable DDC. How do I know? Hehe, guess. Sometimes you can go into your monitor settings and change it there. It might help to post your computer config with irq's.

Let me just say that it will be worth it. I realllly like them. I got mine last year. The only 2 downfalls I can think of is there can be 'ghosting' but you get used to it, and they only work with D3D games which isn't too much of an issue unless you play a lot of quake (opengl) based games.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Guys, I cant thank you enough for all the help you have given me so far. There has been quick responses and I appreciate it greatly. I hope this dcc problem is the issue. I am going to go get an extra monitor cable and try to remove the pins 12 and 15, and then see if that fixes it. My last question before I go do that is... how do you know which pin is which. I need to know which pins 12 and 15 are in the monitor cable. Thanks again,

-kelly

Sounds like a pair of faulty glasses to me. I have had to replace quite a few of the Wicked3D glasses with that exact same problem. None so far (fingers crossed) of the ELSA glasses. The two types of glasses are essentially the same though.

I would recommend that you DO NOT stuff around with the pins but get a replacement unit.

I definitely would recommend to try the DDC thing first - seen the same problem with my new 19" monitor when I tried the Rev. drivers - it just pulls the L/R signal (pin 12) for the glasses somewhere else... In addition, old VGA loop cables should be cheap to get. For the pins : see e.g. VGA DDC pinout

>>>Wicked3D glasses with that exact same problem

The controller technology of Revelator and Wicked3D(classic H3D-dongle) is very different.
Kellywelch has the wired Revelator, so it can't be an IR-problem either.
The wired Revelator has no controller and no internal power source. The only reason for eratic flicker I can imagine can be the signaling from the VGA board and/or monitor.

If you (Kellywelch) decides to do the vga cable thing be sure the modified extender cable is connected to the computer and then the glasses to that cable and then to the monitor. The cable I had was molded so I took some needle nose plyers and grabbing AS MUCH of the pin as I could, slowly worked it back and forth until the pin broke off. It turned out really good. Don't just grab the pin and pull it out!!! I hope you get them fixed soon.

What Cristoph said above makes perfect sense. Hopefully he is right.

I tried the advice of Stee1Hed and have to say, that it seems better to connect the Revelator cable to the computer and then the modified cabel to the monitor.

I think, the drivers use the DDC to synchronize the glasses or to tell them, at which moment there is the picture for the left or right eye.

But the monitor don't need this signals.

I Have a DDC2B monitor and my glasses don't work, is it safe to remove pin 11 and 15 from my monitor cable because i don't have ddc1 :)And the glasses do work on another pc.

Errm - NO - it's pins 12 and 15, not 11! And if your cable is fixed to the monitor, you'd better try to insert a cheap extension cable (or an old Voodoo loop cable) with these pins removed first (between Revelator adaptor and monitor cable).
BTW: What's "don't work" ? Not well, or not at all ? In the latter case, you should make sure that your video card has +5Volts output on VGA pin 9.
