Yes, Oct. 28, but in what format? Anaglyph? Probably only anaglyph. http://www.amazon.com/Journey-Center-Earth-Limited-Glasses/dp/B0016Q2D5M/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1222275772&sr=8-12

Almost forgot; Polar Express 3D comes out on the same day. BluRay versions of each come out that day too. Since 'glasses are included' this is anaglyph.

Just got my DVD copy of Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D. It uses a Green-Purple anaglyph system. The DVD includes 4 such glasses. Definitely one of the WORST anaglyph encodings/processes I've ever seen (and I've seen some really bad ones.) There's major retinal rivalry (brightness differences between the left and right eye) and, if you can get your eyes to fuse the images, it looks totally monochrome (and a greenish monochrome, at that.) On the bright side, this couldn't have happened to a more wretched movie!

Polar Express 3D, also released on Oct. 28, is done in Red/Cyan anaglyph, includes 4 glasses, and is well encoded. Played back on a component or computer monitor, both the 3D and color fidelity are quite good (for an anaglyph.) Obviously, we'd all like a HQFS version, but until then, Polar Express is quite watchable.

Now we have to get someone to take the color channel from normal DVD (left?) and the right data channel from the (green or purple) and build us back a resonable image. Is the blue-ray also using this silly color system?

BTW, Having seen the 3D theater versions of Polar Express and Journey to the Center of the Earth, I PREFER Journey. In both cases you have to suspend disbelief; to each his own.

The 720 3D version - 2 full color AVI files, one left, one right, approx 3.5 GB total. Only audio on right. 1280x720 each, 24 fps, XVid encoded at 2 mbit/sec. Audio - Dolby AC3 48k. Only available through torrents (and I would guess without the studio's permission), AFAIK. PQ samples I've seen are quite good, as is the 3D.

It's a conversion of one side from the color Blue-Ray and a color re-correction of the other side from the green/magenta to true color. Saturation on that side is a little low.

Peter - you could google "journey to the center of the earth 720p 3d shutterglasses". You might then read up on Bittorrent if you don't already understand the technical and legal issues involved.

Just Google "Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D 720p torrent"

You have to be able to do a torrent. It may take a day.

Does anyone know who did this conversion and/or what software/filters were used. I tried doing a conversion but my left looked more half-color/sepia. I'd love to know what method was used to convert it, particularly bearing in mind that the left view was only one channel (green) and the right was two (red/blue=magenta)

Great question. I know it was not the current version of 3DCombine; he is working on that repair/conversion, but it isn't out yet.
