What really has perpetuated the myth about how common anaglyph was at theaters in the 1950's are the silly black and white photos of audiences wearing glasses... clearly colorized only at the lens! It makes for a quick and false impression. Those photos first started appearing in the late 1960's, but the audiences are dressed for the early 1950's.
