Hello, total newbie. Just wondering, I have two digital video cams as well as adobe after effects and premiere pro... is there anyway to create a stereo 3d film using this? IF not than how would it be possible. | ||

Why sure! (This is assuming that you can calibrate/coordinate/synchronize your cameras to audience and your satisfaction and enjoyment) I have a few AE templates that one can use, or I can describe how you go about setting up the workflow... Also, Good thing to have around is Peter Wimmer's Stereoscopic Player, as well as M. Suto's StereoMovieMaker. These can streamline things and help with reviewing, etc. Plus, for animated stereo3d titles, you can use BluffTitler. Let me know... Scott | ||

So it doesn't get too complicated, I suggest making templates for each of SD-NTSC, 720p60, 1080i60, SD-PAL, 720p50, 1080i50, etc. Start a project. Create proxies for "GenericLeft.movie" and "GenericRight.movie" (fill in later with your movie and it's particular file format(s)). Create compositions for each ("L.comp" and "R.comp"), wherein you'll do things like fix positioning, brightness, contrast, gamma, color balance, etc. (relative to each other). Have these comps be the "PARENT" comps... Create subsequent comps in various views that you might use: L overlayed on top of R in Interleaved (using line-alternating mask), anaglyph (using R and GB filters and 50% opacity), Side-by-side (double-wide, or 50% anamorphically squeezed in horiz.), etc. These comps will be children of the parent comps. Use keyframes to stick positions, etc. on the parent comps. This will flow to the "viewport" comps for previews and exports. If you want to export individual files, use the parent comps. I also usually have intermediate "L-view" and "R-view" comps so that I can easily swap L and R if need be. This is a basic setup that should point you in the right direction. If this doesn't make sense to you, ask again. I am assuming that you DO understand basic AE functions and technique... You can save the projects as templates as long as you haven't yet filled in the proxies or done keyframe adjustment etc. HTH, Scott | ||

Premiere Pro 2.0 has stereoscopic-3D editing and export of a single combined 3D-movie already implemented. Open: Effects > Videoeffects > Channels > 3D-Glasses Output options are: side-by-side, interlaced or anaglyphe. Best regards Tim | ||

I assume the anaglyph conversion filter in Premiere is very similar to the (anaglyph) 3D Glasses filter in After Effects. I am going to try and make some anaglyph "creation" tutorials for After Effects, along with project files for downloading, ASAP. These will be methods not possible in straight conversion methods, but really not "rocket science", IMHO. Because of the various settings and filters required, I don't think Premiere, alone, can handle the job, done in this particular way. I sometimes use Premiere for NLE work, but I use After Effects for stereoscopic compositing, and especially for anaglyph creation.
