Any of the 'newer' DVD's (Monster House, Ant Bully, etc.) about to be released in any 3D format?

The whole purpose of the new digital 3D technology is to get people back in the movie theaters, and away from their tvs so the movie folks can make more $$$$, so I would imagine it would be a pretty good while before we see these in any kind of 3D format for home use. But, here's hoping they will eventually show up in field sequential format, you would think so. Monster House is on DVD now, but not in 3D.

The only theatrical movie studio/enterprise that's EVER shown any interest in authorizing its 3-D movies for release in field-sequential stereoscopic DVD format for home viewing has been IMAX, alas.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for Disney or Warner Brothers to ever release field-sequential 3-D DVDs. They consider the market much too small to be profitable -- although somebody in Japan did convince Warner Brothers to authorize field-sequential VHD disc versions of "House of Wax" and "Dial 'M' for Murder" in the mid-1980s, about 20 years ago.

Field-sequential yes, but Disney sent out both Spy-Kids 3D and Shark Boy/Lava Girl in anaglyph. It wouldn't cost them much to do a little.

My point exactly; both were originally anaglyph only, but later Disney was convinced to let them out in other formats. That has NOT happened for Chicken Little, and I would like to know if any of the other current features (from any studio) are likly to be released in any 3D format.

All I know to do is search the internet from time to time to see if anything new has been released, that's what I do. Of course Ebay is a good place to look, that's where I've gotten most of my FS stuff. I, like you, am ready for some of the newer movies to be released.

So far Disney has never released 3-D DVDs in any stereoscopic format. Disney doesn't own the rights to either Shark Boy and Lava Girl or Spy Kids 3-D. These movies were released by Dimension Films after it broke away from Walt Disney Productions. (Disney has rights to the first two Spy Kids movies, which weren't in 3-D.)

Even if Disney eventually puts out an anaglyph version of Chicken Little (which of course would require no special hardware setup for viewers), I think it's very unlikely that the studio will consider it financially worthwhile to release a field-sequential version.
