My next target:

Sony HC3 + Nuvier or Stereocam + Icuiti V920

Quality 3d video filming at fair price (consumer range)

I'm a tech-adict, so i spent some time every day searching internet for new tecnogadgets, tecnology, and every bit of info about 3d world.

I was thinking on purchasing a new camcorder, so i started seing some new models that could give me what i was looking for:

High quality videos
Decent Stills
High portability
Fair price
And so on

My doubts were:

Sony HC1 ?
Sanyo LP-HD1 ? (Just released)
Samsung SC HDX15 ?(Not released yet, summer)

The Sony is a good bet on terms of image quality, but it is not exactly "small", Sanyo offers that tiny factor (in size and price) but compromises image - quality mpeg4 standard with lots of artifacts (see dvinfo.net forums), Samsung's with the ambarella encoder H264 chip could be the solution, but..

There was a 3d adapter for recording also 3d video, isn't it?
I want it! But will the samsung have all the requirements for attaching it? I don't know, there's no info enought.Thread mm size, tripod hole, video out.... dont think so....

But here it comes....

The NEW Sony HC3

HC1 cousin consumer not prosumer camcorder.
Cheaper (at future street prices) than HC1, more portable (26% less, 500gr), 1080i (interlaced for nuview), tripod hole, video out through multi-av conector, 30mm ring (perhaps a stereocam better?), etc.. but without some neat features like audio out, mic in, etc...

And then i thought. What about getting a "Y" splitter for the audio and video out from the HC3 and attaching also an icuiti V920 (uses AA batteries) and using it as a real time 3d visor? That way, if it works, i could adjust parallax dinamically and see the real thing as i'm filming! AND i can monitor audio as well...

Some questions, then, if you want to help me

1- The HC3 has a new Cmos sensor that might or not syncro with the nuview or stereocam at 50i/60i on the composite out while recording in HD (as observed by experts on HC1 in this forums),what is your bet?

2- The icuiti works page flipped interlaced NTSC at native 480i 60hz.
I think Icuiti is far worse quality than my Emagin Z800 visor, so to get the best of it better stick with native. For nuview, better also 60i than 50i, less flicker, and more info dataflow for future editing. But i live in PAL land. What to do? decision, decisions, i think i dont mind to record all the material in NTSC standards, these days projectors and digital displays are both compatible (aren't them?)

I'm gonna seem a Startrek fan with all this stuff attached!

Please let me read your comments, fails of my theory and advice about the set up.

Thanks!

3dHDfan, i know the nuview has to be conected to the hd1 output of the hc1 for sync. Does it mean that the hc1 outputs the image it is recording while recording?

I have two concerns about this,

1.- i want to see real time in 3d what i am filming, and not a doubled 2d image through the viewfinder, the icuiti might be the solution, but it has to be video-feeded at the same time i'm recording.

2.- the HC3 has no direct composite out, it has the multi-av out, from what i can extract composite or s-video and audio out. Hope this works as the HC1, because if not nuview is not compatible with the HC3. That would force me to buy the HC1.

¿Does anyvody know if the multi-av of sony cameras work this way?

thanks for your feedback

3dHDfan , do you have any lens (tele or wide) attached to your hc1 and the nuview at the same time?

I would want to know if there is any lens compatible with the nuview.

thanks!

no other lens attached, just the NuView.it might work but haven't tried other lens. i also have a BensdLens and attach it to the little Sony HCI 1080i and shoot hirez anaglyph video. there are several new high end anaglyph glasses that cut way down on retinal rivalry (Anachrome) and others. so with the little wonder Sony HCI you can shoot real time HD field sequentail, and anaglyph HD footage.

HD3Dfan, to your eyes, what do you prefer in terms of quality? nuview's field sequential or benslens anaglyph?

Could you send me by email a short clip of footage shot by nuview + hc1? Don't mind if you downresized it to dvd format. I'm just curious to see the 3d effect of this combo.
