Hi,

i have just received my VFX1 (finally! what a glorious piece of hardware...) and disassembled it as far as i could.

Although the unit wields quite comfortable iīm stuck on the piece you can see below.

VFX1

I donīt believe that brute force is much of a help in this case.

As you can see i already removed the screws, but itīs still stuck.

Do i have to pull apart the side pieces of the HMD to get it out of there?

Any advice is appreciated!

Thank you and greetings from Germany!

Sin

what they have used sometimes was glue that may have stuck the 2 pieces together, try using a hair dryer and see if it softens up alittle. I've taken plenty of these apart.

Thanks Ku,

it was indeed glued together.

The hair dryer did work somehow, but to be honest, i lost my nerves halfway. So it seems as if i have to replace that piece because the original one is now destroyed.

Anyway, since i have to customize even more of the helmet it does not really matter.

Greetings!

Iīm just slowly making progress, havenīt found much time lately.

I finally received my 5,6" wxga and the optics.

Now i have the crucial parts together and can start working on the shell.

Helmet

Display through optic

(Tried to capture what the image looks like when viewing through the optics. Forgot to take of the dirty protection foil, it looks better in reality.)

Interesting fact: Some scenes, games or movies, have an amazing depth. Donīt exactly know why it is, but iīm sure glad itīs there. ^^

Greetings,

Sin

Thanks Ku, i may come back at you if necessary. :-)

In the meantime i cobbled together the main components of my little Frankenstein-Mod.

Front
Side

Iīm quite satisfied with the result so far, mostly because my fingers are all thumbs. ^^

I only used stuff which i had lying around to keep the price as low as possible.

Still more than enough work left, but i wanted to share the pictures of Frankenstein holding itself together for the first time. :-)

Next step will be the counterweight and cable management. Iīm still missing a tracking device, but i should have that in the next two weeks i guess.

Hey!

Ebayseller Vitrolight had those displays on offer. But as far as i know theyre not that easy to get anymore. Its a Hydis HV056WX1.

The same for the VFX,obviously quite rare. They pop up on ebay from time to time or you have to look around forums like this or mtbs3d.com

Hey Philipp, thanks a lot! I just checked the Ebay sellar out. I come from Germany too and just pressed the buy button. I will go with the LEEP Optics tutorial from vrtifacts. I think this will be a nice system.

Greetings from Hamburg
