Hi Guys. I love my 3d but currently can only watch with anaglyph so i have decided to take the plunge into the world of stereoscopic 3d by purchasing one of the new Samsung 3d ready dlp televisions...the hl61a750 to be exact. Ok so now i am ready to do that and i find out you must hook a pc up to the tv in order to make it work(which is unpractical and ridiculous to me but oh well). Thats fine but after spending 1600 on a tv plus another 300 on a stand i am a little hesitant to rake out another grand for a computer so i decided to just use my 3 year old dell dimension 4600 for this and save some money because i just cannot afford to have to buy a computer on top of everything else. Now from what i have read i am pretty sure this computer will work with a few minor upgrades such as memory and sound card but i want to make darn sure before i go and purchase this tv although i have already ordered the stand.
My computer specs are:Pentium 4 3.0ghz dual core hyper threading processor. I am upgrading the memory to 2.5gb. I have ordered a sound card from circuit city that has the optical output dts and dolby compatible. Now here is where i get stuck a little bit...lol I think i am ok so far but the graphics card (which was 450 bucks 3 years ago)is the ati radeon 9800 pro which does have a dvi output. Will this card work? I have tried to find any info on whether this card will output at 1080p but so far no luck. I have read on some sites that say if your card has the dvi output on it you should be ok but if anyone out there knows for sure i would appreciate the help. Thanks!

Hi again and thanks. It still will not let me register for some strange reason but i did read the posting you kindly supplied the link to. I guess i am just going to go ahead and order the tv and hope this setup will work with it if not i will just get a new graphics card and solve the issue. I would think this one would work and it has the newest up to date catalyst drivers so maybe that will work. Thanks for your help.

no probs,
ill have a chat to admin on mtbs3d about the problems you were having.
i think you should be sweet to purchase a 3d ready DLP,
they seem to work well from what ive heard.
shame they dont sell them in Australia and if they did they would be twice the price of American prices.... :-(
cheers

Man that is a shame. I would like to think everyone would be able to get the 3d ready tv's. I actually just pulled the trigger on it and ordered so it should be here in Mississippi within 4 days. My stand will be here tomorrow and all cords as well as 3d shutter glasses with stereoscopic player have been ordered so if this graphics card works out i should be in business however i know it won't be that easy.....lol something won't work right i know my luck but if it is the last thing i do i will get it working. Thanks for your help and good luck.
