Has anybody here built autostereoscopic display? Is it very hard to do it?

It is almost impossible ...
The problem is the precise alighment of the lenticluar foil with the screen pixels ...
At home you can not reach the neccesary sub mm precision.

there will be the worlds first true HD autostereoscopic display system by the end of 2007!!!!!!!!!!!

But in this time there will be available 4K active proejection beting the autostereo display aiagn :-)

I have two autostereoscopic displays; Sharp LL-151-3D 15" XGA LCD Monitor and Stereographics SG182 autostereoscopic display. They have been available for quite a while, and the Sharp's quality is simply amazing for the price.
