I am using selfmade videoprocessor VirtualVision (with genlocked Matrox Parhelia 256 MB) for output stereomovie (selfmade too) in page-flipping to THREE projectors BenQ 6210. Total resolution of picture is 3072x768(!) (screen aspect ratio 4:1).

Processor VirtualVision

Do you have 3072x768 3D stereo movies available ?
I do not thing so - so what sense does your system have ?

For playing stereomovie I am using ParallaxPlayer, max resolution (in stereo) what support one - 2400x600. I am making the "movies" (stereoscopic presentation) in resolution 2000x500, 15 fps (bit(byte)rate about 5-7 MByte/sec). High dynamic scenes looks not very well, but slowly changing is quite acceptable.

To Michal Husak

It's possible to use processor VirtualVision with any projector (DepthQ, for example :-)), plasma panel, CRT-display or virtual helmet. VirtualVision is scalable system - up to 4 processors (12(!) projectors - rotary stereopanorama) is possible to combine in cluster. And DolbyDigital 5.1 sound!

Please price how high is the price of this videoprocessor? (for Slovakia?)
Are not problems with projectors synchronisation for 3D active stereo?_

To Peter Ziak (Hornet)

There are not problems with projectors synchronisation (I tested BenQ 6210, BenQ 6240, CRT-monitors Philips and Mitsubishi): Matrox Parhelia is genlocked - three absolutely synchronous VGA-outputs, quality of stereo is better then nVIDIA cards (Parhelia has hardware QuadBuffered OpenGL stereo). There is just one problem (not problem, difficulty :-) ) - absolutely NOT CONTENT in screen aspect ratio 4:1. Therefore I am making "the content" myself (in general in 3D-programs). I offer COMPLETE STEREOSCOPIC PRESENTATION SYSTEM - HARDWARE (processor VirtualVision $6500, 3 projectors, shutter-glasses (wired or wireless), sound equipment (DolbyDigital 5.1) ), CONCEPTION of using this system (particularly for each customer) and corresponding STEREOSCOPIC CONTENT (particularly for each customer too). Price of making the content depends on complexity (3D-modelling, rendering etc.), but quite accessible - from $500 one minute. (For example, mobile stereoscopic attraction (pavilion from banner fabric 6x4x3 meter, screen 6x1.5 meter, 20 pair wired shutter-glasses, videoprocessor VirtualVision, 3 projectors BenQ 6210, sound equipment Yamaha (receiver 4600, 5 speakers and subwoofer), stereopresentation 8 minutes with DolbyDigital sound ) costed for customer about $17,000, but repayed for THREE MONTH).
(Another example - DYNAMIC VARIABLE INTERIOR for bars, discotheques, pools etc.).
Send me e-mail (my address is yurab@VirtualVision.ru) what kind of stereoscopic system You need and I'll develope one for You.

Thanks,
for my hobby (soaring and flight simulators in 3D) too expensive. And my programs are all in DirectX. For my ideal vere 2048x768 DirectX compatible 2 PJ system, have PB 6240 and shutterglasses

For Your hobby You can to use Matrox Parhelia 256MB, AGP or PCI-Express (about $650), also genlocked, works in OpenGL and DirectX, three synchronous VGA-outputs (You can to use 1, 2 or all 3). (See details on site www.matrox.com)

Hi, thanks,
is possibility of use of 3D stereodrivers (matrox drivers?) with shutterglasses and DirectX programs.
I think the 3D drivers (consumer) for use with shutterglasses and DirectX programs are only for NV graphiccards avaible.

I do not belive Matrox had any equivalent of nVidia drivers converting games to stereo automaticaly ...

Matrox Parhelia has HARDWARE QuadBuffered OpenGL Stereo and don't use special SOFTWARE stereodriver. What about games I can't to say anything - I don't play the games (only Soliter :-) ). I'm using this videocard only for output selfmade stereoscopic presentations on three projectors (CRT-monitors) - stereopicture on screen with aspect ratio 4:1 looks enought prettily :-) .

Yuri you are seying different thins in different sentences:

1) works in OpenGL and DirectX,

2) Matrox Parhelia has HARDWARE QuadBuffered OpenGL Stereo and don't use special SOFTWARE stereodriver

If 2) is true stereo does not work with DirectX ...

So one of your sentnece is false ... Witch one ?

To Michal Husak

You are right, there is diffrent things in diffrent sentenses and both are true: OpenGL is HARDWARE, DirectX is SOFTWARE. I am using HARDWARE OpenGL Stereo, but games in DirectX work too (in stereo, I tested F1, Life for Speed and IL2). I think another games in DirectX will work too (why not?).
(In general I am only a USER and for me it is not important the way by which this videocard works).

I wonder if people like to wear shutter glasses in the swimming pool... ;-)

So your system is based on OpenGL. I wonder if Stereoscopic Player (my software) runs on your system as well. I couldn't test it on such a system yet and really would like to know.

If you want to try it, you can download it from http://www.3dtv.at.

By the way, is ParallaxPlayer still available? I can't find it anywhere on the Stereogrpahics/RealD website?

This is interesting. How can DirectX game work in stereo without specialized Matrox specific drivers ? Does Matrox have a special wrapers adding stereoscopy to games or not ?

To PETER WIMMER

Unfortunately Stereoscopic Player does not support resolution 2000x500 (or 2400x600) - in this resolution i am making stereoscopic presentations. From all software players which I tested it is only Parallax (v1.0 of 2002 year) who supports max resolution 2400x600 (4800x600 in stereo), but only 15-18 fps. That is why I try to avoid a high dynamic scenes (besides dynamic scenes take too much time while rendering).

Low price of my "attractions" allows to change radically the "technology of watching" of stereocontent. For example, stereoscopic slide-show is demonstrated at once in two (or more) neighbour rooms and viewers (with wireless or anaglyph glasses) walk from one room to another having impression that they walk along a gallery (or inside a space station, or a tomb of pharaon, or in a street of a real or virtual city, ... ). The VIRTUAL interior/landscape can be combined with REAL interior/landscape (like opera "Aida" among pyramids)...

(In DYNAMIC VARIABLE INTERIOR the "picture" can be not only stereo but "flat"; this change does'n spoil the impression).

I think You should bettery addresse Your questions to MATROX's developers.

I don't play the games AT ALL. For my purposes possibilities of Matrox Parhelia are quite sufficient (taking in to account relatively low price ($650)).

How do you make them working in stereo when this games do not support stereo ?

The question is not "why not ?" they question is "why they shoudl work ?" if you do not have a specialzed drivers?

What do you mean, I've played them in stereo, they work. I think it's very few (3D)DirectX games where there is no stereoeffect at all. I can't come up with a single title.

Jesper: You speak about playing the games on nVidia graphic cards probably ... But this topic is related to Matrox ! Matrox card do not have (as far as I know) any method of automatic warpiong of DirectX games to stereo ...
