I have a Dell 2300MP projector and am researching projected 3D (passive). Does anyone have any experiences regarding this (or other Dell) projector(s) for 3D. For a dual-projector setup, is it safe to assume that alignment will be next to impossible with two different projectors, even similiar models from the same manufacturer?

Yes, we use two Dell 3400MP's in one of our passive systems (the travelling one) and find them generally excellent. Alignment, with the right mount, is absolutely not a problem. What is a more of a problem, as with all passive systems I've worked with, is aligning colour temperature. The colour and brightness drift over time in the lamps means that realignment is required quite frequently.

Its been reported that the 3300MP works fine in 3d out of the box.

Do a search here or at that forum with Dell as the search term.
