Hello, we have a very sensitive 3D project to run here and urgently need to buy silver screen of professional quality. We already tested materials Dalite, Harkness, VueTec and Stewart Silver Screen. Only Stewart gave the expected results but it is so terrible expensive that there is no chance to go with it. Also, the Stewart material seems to be very sensitive and has pretty high gain. What else 3D screen manufacturers do exists. All help and URL's are very very welcome for us. Sam | ||

M.H., I am located in the Netherlands. Where can I find the SilverFabric 3D screen you mentioned? What experience have you made with it? I have tested materials from Dalite, Harkness, Vuetec and Stewart. Dalite is too bad in 3D image quality. Stewart is fantastic but they have crazy prices. How's about the SilverFabric material? Question to Anonymus that talks about "cheap rear projection screen". Are you sure that this rear projection material keeps the 3d polarization? Have you tested that with a 3D projection? However, I need a 3D front-projection screen. The screen may not be translucent. But if your cheap material works for 3D it is good to know where to buy 3D rear projection screen materials. Sam: I had made personaly comparison of the Da-Lite materials and SilverFabric materials. Silver Fabric produce less ghosting + it has better gain. Hi people, I am still looking for rear projection screen (color gray for low ambient light projection). I see that SilverFabric makes special screen for 3D, but I dont know if it has good REAR projection performance. Stewart doesnt make screens specially for 3D, but has nice rear projection alternatives. Also Stewart has many different rear screen types, so I am a bit confused which is the best for passive 3D with low ambient light and 2500 lumen projector on a 120' diagonal screen. Any advice is welcome! | ||

Hi Roman Generaly you need a special non-depolarizing screen for rear projection, only selected rear projection materials tested as non-depolarizing are suitable. The best material are hard plastic desks. Do you need a fixed isntalation or a portable one ? Generaly your 2500 + 120' diagonal under low ambinet light condition will probably not work very well in stereo even with good screen material ... You should use at least 3000 ANSI or so ... Thank you M.H., the bad news is that we are going to buy in USA though the project is in Latin America  I've read that you have a partner, Lightspeed Design Group. I will contact them as well. I was thinking about buying the Canon Realis SX50 LCoS projector (2500 lumens) We would project stills and HD 720p from a computer set to 1400 x 1050. I guess we will need DepthQ Server to post-process the video. I contacted SilverFabric and their best (non LCD, they didnt test the SP/SPAR filters with LCoS yet) silverfabric polarizing filters have 46% optical efficiency, then I am left with 1150 lumens... Maybe you are right, I'd better use a smaller screen, I think a 2m wide screen will do the job. So maybe we can use the plastic material you told me about, however I dont know if any company delivers 2000x1125mm sheets, so please, if anybody worked with similar setups, maybe you can give me an advice or link to somebody who can orient me. Ah, about the mobility, screen will be fixed to a frame, but our all installation will be moved in a container. | ||

Hi Roman Based on your location it will be realy better if you will contact LigtspeedDesign ... I am sure they will make the neccesary lighting calulatins for you and a offer for screen as well .. We have avilabe the non-dpolarizng plastic shets (or even complete screen) in any size but shiping of a rigid desk to your location will be probably very complicated. The sloution will be rolable Stewart non-depolarizings screen material for rear projection. I am sure Ligtspeed will suggest you the right one ... | ||

I have been experimenting with 3d projection and did a bit of thinking about making a silver screen. I have tried several silver paints but nothing worked out satisfactory, than I hit upon the idea to use a silver nylon material which is used to make car covers. I spent 20 bucks and got a cover to fit a large car. Let me tell you that is a lot of material. Than I cut out the desired size and glued it onto a sheet of threeply. It performed better than I expected. Maybe someone would like to try it and let us know what you think of it. |
