I have seen on an Czech computer exhibition
INVEX a new ADI monitor - model M700-3
It is an normal 17' Invar monitor with
build in IR emitor for shutterglasses.
It can sinc to the page flipping and it have even
a bult in future for creating artifical paralax
of normal 2D signal or correcting the zero paralax
plane of an HW page filiped stereoscopic signal
generated by the graphic card. The LCD glasses
comming with the distribution looks like the
IR APEC model - http://www.apec.com.tw/
The IR signal is incompatible with Eye3D system (tested).

Thanks for the infos Michael.

Problem is ADI claims this to be a real 3D solution. They say they could produce stereo without a driver on any VGA-board - which is bogus.

The monitor also doesn't support higher resolutions/refresh rates. It's a 70 kHz monitor and as such not a good choice for shutterglasses.

You are right. The monitos itself can only
shift the plane of the image. Graphic card
with stereoscopic drivers is evcose nessesery for
realy stereoscopic image. The monitor is not
and flat screen Triniton in adition, only an
standard spherical INVAR solution ...
But the built in emitor eliminates the trouble
with the cable pas-throw conector and external
power sources ...

The way they promote the monitor is misleading.

German game magazine Gamestar described the 3D-effect (without driver!?!) as 'good'. ADI uses this also for promotion.

I have an email from ADI which was forwarded to me. There they praise the monitor for it's ability to produce 3D independendly from the VGA-board.

I was testing this monitor functionality on
the 3DMark2000. It does realy nothing else than
adding an shift to the view. The result looks
evcose flat, inside or outside the monitor. The shift is
adjustable from the monitor menu. I find this functionality useful only for zero parllax plane correction of HW page flipped stereoscopic
signal from an 3D graphic card with proper stereoscopic software. To say that the monitor creates the 3D effect itsel without cooperation with the graphic card is evcose NONSENSE. The ADI shuld sell the monitor with some graphic card and stereoscopic wrapers to be realy serious ...
