While looking for 3D solutions I came across Christoph Bungert's praising review of the VNM Virtual-i glasses and driver (http://www.stereo3d.com/virtual_i.htm). That was 2003 and now I can't find any mention of this product. Has it died?

I haven't heart from the company since. The greatest thing was the controller and AFAIK it was already on sale in asia bundled with other glasses as Witvision VRFX. Unfortunately this package doesn't seem to have made it to Europe and America.

Concerning the Virtual-i glasses they were based on plastic-LCD's rather than glass-LCD's. The company had difficulties with the process, since it seems to be harder to make them durable, compared to glass-LCD'S. If air or moisture gets between the layers the LCD is destroyed. My prototype test samples already became victim to what I'd call LCD-corrosion.

The whole situation reminds me a bit of OLED displays which partially have the same problem with air, moisture and chemical degradation. However the problems should be solvable and plastic-LCD may have a bright future.

It's really sad to see such quality products can't make it in the market...
