There has been interest in the subject of the XBox -

The initial version of the XBox had stereoscopic support built in.

I was also told by my source that MS refuses to enable the 3D support.

Maybe - my source is a low level programmer of the NVidia chipset that was used but he/she indicated to me that MS refuses to allow the 'ON/CHEAT' to be released. :-(

would they be willing to talk to you about it in more detail? Perhaps find out how to access that code? I'm sure any hacker could do it with the right info.

I tried my best prior but their lips were sworn to silence.

The code is in the PIC programming on the Nvidia chip set. This code should be locked from a PIC reader.

Other ways do exist though... More on that in the near future.

What is stereo support on the chipset-level supposed to be? What part of the stereo functionality could be on the chipset? Hardware-page-flipping? Signal channel for the glasses-trigger? Or actual stereo logic?

Usually this happens on the driver level.

By the way, stereo on consoles is pathetic. We're talking about TV-resolutions and -refresh (50/60 Hz) here.

Hi Chris;

Hope you are well as I am...

The stereo support would be simple interlaced direct X stereoscopic rendering. The TV already being interlaced would allow for the stereo effect with LCD glasses and HMD systems.

Flicker would be obvious at 60hZ NTSC and 50hZ on Pal. I do not have a HD-TV so I cannot comment on the flicker on these systems.

I did create a LCD TV - wireless system that produced no glasses flicker using NTSC and Pal. This technology was ultimatly sold to X3D some time ago. Lets hope that they can get the technology to market for the TV users.

Warm regards;

Wow! I hope someone will find the way to get stereo 3D on an X-Box, since a month ago I bought an X-Box and yesterday I got my eDimensional glasses!
