Here is the response:

Wicho,

I'll pass this along to the Catalyst team. We have received other
requests for stereo and they are aware of the technical issues.

Thanks,

-Jason

Subject: Quick 3D question

Hi,

I've followed Ati's steps throughout a long hard time, and I've seen
all
the developments realized by the company. I'm an avid gamer and pc user.

There is one area of my interest, 3D stereoscopy, in which I've tried
many
solutions for the shutter glasses, but none is completely satisfying.
And I
even tried the NVIDIA stereo drivers with a friends graphics card, those
I
found to be overall great but I own a Radeon 64DDR, so they are
completely
out of my reach. I'm interested in buying the new R300 as soon as its
available. But what bugs me, is that I still don't see stereoscopy
support
such as the NVIDIA drivers. So, the question is: Is it within your reach
to
develop those drivers in conjunction with the Catalyst? There are many
methods to use; Page Flipping is amongst the most popular and best of
all. I
hope you can consider this as a request, as I believe its not that
difficult
to develop those drivers and there are many Ati brand owners out there
waiting for this to happen. By the way, congrats on your research on
RenderMonkey! Thanks

Wicho

Are there any other email adresses we can send stereo requests too? The more we ask, the bigger the chance of it happening...

The 3D glasses companies are no doubt pushing quite hard already.

Hi everyone,

Just a quick note to let all the ATI video card users know that I had a discussion with ATI today and they are willing to work with us in developing a stereoscopic 3d game driver.

I send them an Eye3D Premium to experiment with and hopefully I will have more information to post on this site.

One other thing, it would not be a bad idea to contact ATI tech support and bug them about the lack of Stereo3d drivers, my contact at ATI seems to think that this will help the cause a great deal.

Hopefully I will be writing again soon

Chris

Please post a contact list to the tech support, emails, phones, adresses, whatever there is.

Now that ATI is also selling chips, some of their subcontractors would definatly be up for some deluxe package with 3D Glasses.

Hahaha... I sold my ATI Radeon 8500 to my friend Last week and bought a Abit GeForce Ti4200 just for the stereo3D support. I was perfectly happy with the ATI card but no 3D or native linux support just wasn't gonna cut it. Hopefully as the impressive R300 rolls out, they can get some serious driver support going.

Layersection, I feel you. Just a few weeks back I sold my Ati Radeon 8500 (128mb ram) just because it didn't support stereo. I now have a g4 ti4600 w/ 128mb ram and it runs smooth as silk. I wish ATI would get on the ball already and support stereo 3d. But until then the only option is nVidia.
