Most annoying are the names of other players and the damage bars on objects.

Clearly these are 2D objects. Anyone have a workaround? It is VERY hard sometimes to recognize friend from foe because the labels are split into double images making ID very difficult.

Have you tried adjusting the settings with the in-game hot keys? Or, even easier, is to copy the Dwords & values in the registry for UT2003 into the UT2004 key...They work perfectly.
The latest Nvidia drivers 61.76 do not contain any settings for 2004, so if you are just launching the game without any adjustment the convergence settings etc will definately be all wrong.
P.S. if you have not used CTRL-F7 in-game to write configuration settings, you probably won't even have a registry key for the game, but you could easily create one..
My settings for UT2004 are:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\Stereo3D\GameConfigs\UT2004]
"StereoConvergence"=dword:421f200e
"LaserSight"=dword:00000001

(If this is copied into a notepad text file, and the file saved and then named to *.reg, you can enter it into the registry just by double-clicking it)

The default crosshairs can be disabled by editing your UT2004 user.ini file and changing the showcrosshair option to 0. (So you can use lasersight)

If your're still not happy with the way names etc are displayed, you can disable any of the HUD items in the UT2004 settings pages.
However do note that every time you go into the settings pages, you'll find that the 'showcrosshair' line in the user.ini goes back to 1! so you have to change it to 0 again...
