Playing with this 5200 card I got for testing, I have downloaded and installed the 56.72 versions of the both the display drivers and the stereo driver. I find it works reasonably well in quite a few modes, but for the one I am interested in, which is dual-head mode (i.e. StereoViewerType = 4), it works only at 800x600 @ 32 bits. Using the "Test Application", all the other modes I try (1024x768, 1280x1024, 16 bit, etc) result in totally garbled output in the right eye output.

This is not the monitor losing sync, as the overall image is still stable, but is something to do with the display buffer addressing, as you can see that all the elements are there, just all in the wrong pixel positions.

Has anyone else seen this problem? Or had the same thing work properly?

Have you made sure that the right monitor's resolution, bit depth and refresh rate are exactly the same as the left's in stereo mode? If any of these differ, you will get the result you are seeing.

I think I did, but it's a good point. I will check again.

Thanks

One thing that makes me suspicious is that I cannot get Windows to recognize the model of the right (2nd) screen -- it keeps calling it "Default Monitor" -- so maybe it just won't switch the card to a higher resolution for fear of damaging the monitor. However, when not in stereo mode, it's quite happy pushing that monitor up as far as I tell it (1600 x 1200 x 85Hz).

With dual projection you don't need to run the displays at high res. 60hz will do. Try this first and see if you get non-garbled display, then you can play with the settings from there. [As mentioned, all other settings(res+bitdepth) need to be the same for both displays AND the game you are running.]

Has anyone gotten dual-head stereo to work without graphical glitches on a 6800 or 6800GT card? If so, please tell me how! Thanks!

With 71.84 drivers dual head works great. In fact you can set clone mode and both heads work in synch when a mode change occurs, thus you no longer have to have same bit depth, resolution, etc.
