We're producing 3D Stereo films using 3DSMax and we save great looking nearly ghost free still images in TGA and even in JPEG.

Our problem starts when we try to make a movie out of them. We can't find a way to not to ruin everything when joining the files, due to the compression. And of course, we have to use some kind of compression...

When the images are compressed by the video codec, the even lines get a bit of the colour of the next odd lines and vice-versa.

We used DIVX, but it doesn't come out right.

Any one knows of a codec that is adequate for 3DStereo?????

Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi,

I produce 3dmovies too.
You should tell me what kind of stereo 3d movies you release (interlaced, anaglyph, ...)
Depending on the 3d format you will have to use a compression or a different one.

simple rule, if you are doing interlace, don't use mpeg, since it looks for similar pixels in a block.

Post some shots, one of a still and one shot of a clips with the compression.
Need details about the stereo format, compression type and settings to help out.

Try above/below instead of interlace.

For interlaced video you can set appropriate setting of MPEG-2 encoder.
Giorgio.

Deinterlace on/off is one important option.

We're doing interlaced.

We're going to continue to try to get an appropriate codec/codec configuration during the next couple of days and I'll tell you how things went.

Thanks a lot!
