Hi people... I'm finishing the details of my linkbox project, and I want to know if someone wants to buy them. In the next week i will make a professional circuit board, buy components, connectors, etc, and if there's enough people interested I can make more to sell. At this point, my linkbox sends the same image from the video board using the VGA connector, and still uses the ISA board to get the VFX1 positional data (from helmet and cyberpuck). I'm also working on a project to kill the ISA board (get the data by an USB or parallel connection). I'm targeting a price of US$100-150 (still need to get some cotations to fix a final price). Is someone interested? What other features could be interesting to have? (stereo images from 2 VGA connectors? does it worth? ). I'm waiting for comments. Oh, I almost forgot: i'm planning to use DHL or something like that to ship them, but the only way i figured to receive the payments is credit cards, but i know that most people don't like to use them by Internet. If someone knows another way to move money around the world with greater security, i'm accepting suggestions.

I checked it some time ago and for my country (Brazil) they only allowed me to send money... but today i've checked again and seems that now i can receive money too, so i will register with them to give more one option of payment for the interested people. Thanks Johan.

I would be interested in possibly picking one up. Ever thought of using video amps along with your splitters so you could have brightness and contrast adjustment. The IC's are cheap enough but will take up alot more space.

I've tried to use amp ops, but they gave unstable results (analog device parts). This week i've received some burbrown parts (now Texas Instruments) and they seems to work very well, but i tested only with osciloscope/signal generator, not with the VFX1. I will try to test with VFX1 until the end of the week, and if they work better than the passive divisors, i will change the project.

You can get video specific amps from national semiconductors. They are designed to work with video signals and the characteristics of them.

Íve got one (AD8023) from analog, but i couldn't get a stable outpup from it. Don't know why. I'm having better luck with the OPA3682 from burbrown/texas instruments. Today i've also had a good idea: try to get stereo images from the VGA the same way as the VFX1 originaly worked. I don't remember if it was scan line interlaced, or frame alternating. Does someone know it?

Mendes,

The VFX1 Can do both line sequential and page flipping, but you better stick with Line sequential, as most games that worked before were on that format...

I'd be interested. However, it would have to bypass the ISA board completely. Making the VFX1 compatible with modern video cards would be well worth $100.

I would be very interested in this device. My VFX1 has been sitting in a closet gathering dust for over 2 years now.

Especially interested in seeing the stereo display and losing the ISA board.

Yes! Though without the Isa board, and stereoscopy would be nice (I would still buy it without stereoscopy though, but not as long as the Isa board is still needed).

Great initiative, btw. I would pay through Paypal, and I live in Holland (I am used to paying nifty shipping fees too).

Cheers!

Hi All,

We will have a VFX1 linkbox solution available for sale in aprox 1 to 2 months. The solution will be a two unit product. One will contain the video and the other will contain VFX1 specific materials like I2C bus management and power supplies.
The unit work with all PC's at specified refresh rates and resolutions. It will allow for higher resolutions at a reduced refresh rate. The video section will have adjustable horizontal and vertical position, brightness, contrast, and such.
Because of the two unit solution the price for the kit will be around 350.00 or more. Approx 200 for the video and 150 for the VFX1 adaptor box and possibly some additional charges for cable adaptors.
What do u guys think??

Firstly, congratulations on developing a solution. I would like more details. Do you have a webpage? Will the headtracking work for modern games? Is stereo supported? Is the two-part solution a video card AND a linkbox or do you use your existing video card? Just trying to determine if there is any way to defray the cost of this solution.

Confused

I would consider paying $300. USD for the above WITH headtracking. Headtracking is a vital part to immersion with a HMD. I'm not interested in this unit without headtracking.

Thank you

Any progress on this? I checked the webpage and it says 'SOLD OUT'? Are there going to be any more and will there be headtracking down the road for this solution?

I've talked to the guy at the website and they are building them special order. They also said that due to a lack of interest there will be no headtracing solution planned for the future.

'Lack of interest in head-tracking'? I have a lack of interest in anything without head-tracking. Oh well.. so close and yet so far..

Does anyone has or know where to get the source code of the VFX1 drivers ? Since the company is dropping support, the only way for us to keep our VFX1s alive is by making new drivers.
