Help please,

I have just bought a pair of Revelator glasses. I have a GeForce 3 and am running Win ME. I have downloaded the latest drivers (12.41 for the card and 12.40 for the stereoscopic driver) and installed them both.
When I go to display>Settings>Advanced I get an error:
An error occurred while Windows was working with the Control Panel file
C:\WINDOWS|SYSTEM|DESK.CPL

This happens everytime I click Advanced. If I remove the stereo driver then I get in fine (but that's not much help). I wish nVidia had some online support.

Please knowledgable people, help me experience this wonderful world of 3D.

Hi!

I got the same error you did using Windows 95 (the first edition) with a PCI-Bus TNT2-M64. On Win95 it's even worse because the crash happens at "display/settings". It does so even when all I do is copy NVSTERCP.DLL to the windows directory!

There are 2 ways to work around this:
1) move NVSTERCP.DLL out of your Windows directory, then enable the stereo driver by editing the registry. Use the docs on the stereovision.net site if you wish, but all you really need to do is to set in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Nvidia Corporation/Global/Stereo3D
the Keys "StereoEnable" and "StereoDefaultOn" to "1". Start your Direct3D application and have fun!

2) Use the Revelator drivers that ELSA provides; latest version is 12.40 which should contain the same version detonator and has a nifty switch that lets you switch between the ELSA drivers and whatever you had installed before.

If anyone knows a way to really fix this problem, I'd be glad to hera about it!

Hope this helped

Oops- forgot to mention in my previous message that for method 1) you need to set "StereoViewerType" to 1 for your Revelator!

Thanks Michael,

I ended up reinstalling the drivers 3 times and it has installed correctly now. However the glasses are not flickering correctly, they are very erratic. I'm working on it.
