Hi, I've recently aquired a VFX1, from what I have gathered I can't use my Nvidia Geforce card with it (can I?).
Anyway, I am looking for a decent card with 3d support that I will be able to use with the VFX1 in Windows98.

Can someone recommend a card??

The VFX1 HMD will definitly not work with a 3D accelerated card, because it uses the so called VIP card, which must be connected to the graphics card through the VESA interconector. This means that you are able to use only 256 colors, which makes all 3D acceleration obsolete because all the 3D accelerators use at least 16bit color depth.
As far as a sutable card: I think a old ATI should work (not 3D accelerated).

Actually there are some "accelerated" cards that will work. These are the early ones with 2d & 3D on one board. Any that have a Feature connector, could in theory work. The 3DFX Voodoo Rush cards will definitely work - I use one. These are ancient 3D cards by today's standards though.

I run a 3DFX Voodoo Rush and twin 12mb Voodoo2's - that's 3 video cards! Actually 4 if you count the 3D on the rush card! While most may not want to do this - it gives me VFX1 compatibility and decent performance on all current 3D titles.

If you get a card with a feature connector and you also have a 3D acceleration on board, Just remember to run the game in 640x480 256 color non accelerated mode. You can also get lots of other hints by reading my past posts on the archives here at:

Search VFX1 or VRJUNKIE

Good luck,
