I went to the local arcade today and saw a new cabinet with the word "VR" slapped all over, and what looked like a BOOM in front of the screen. My excitement rose quickly... and disappeared just as quickly, when I looked into the pseudo-BOOM and saw it wasn't stereoscopic! The thing only contained a single LCD screen and a lens to make it look bigger and farther away, without really succeding... it felt like looking at a 14'' screen a foot away from my eyes!
As I threw the thing back in disgust, saying "Aww, it's not stereoscopic!" I saw a man behind me, who just couldn't wait to try it. I bet he got very disappointed with the result, and VR/stereo 3D lost another potential supporter today.

I hate that form of advertisement (calling VR something that is not and ultimately disappointing people) with my whole heart, it's one of the reasons why *real* VR hasn't took off yet!
