How do I convert a 2D image into stereo 3D?

Starting from one single 2D to create a "fake" 3D image, any tutorials? tips? software?

Many of the Sports Illustrated 3D images were 2D to 3D conversions. Some of them were very impressive. Ron Labbe did some of those images; he does excellent work: http://www.studio3d.com/.

It can be done but it takes time. Some people need to convert existing 2D material, and it is not possible to shoot it in 3D.

There is a plugin for Photoshop that is supposed to help convert 2D to 3D:

Haven't used it though...

Good luck,

John

Thanx for the tip but the http://www.promagic.net/promagic/designer.html
costs 200 dollars and no demo version to download.

It should work if you do it manually too, hasn't anyone around here ever heard of this method?
There must be many 3D photos that started out as a 2D photos...

Of course stereo photos are better, but sometimes that just isn't possible...
