It's a special type of screen with a reflection of high quality . When using a passive stereo setup, one projector have one image and the other P have the other image. To seperate these pictures they have to be polarised with lenses. Later you use the same type of lenses to see the image. For this the reflection has to be perfect not distorted as it may be if you are using a cheaper screen. | ||

Yes, that's correct. More technically, it (the screen) must retain the polarization of the incoming light, as the two images are kept seperate by using different polarization for each image. If the screen randomizes the polarization while reflecting it, the glasses cannot properly filter out the inappropriate image from each eye. | ||

I am using the SilverFabric material as well - it is realy good at least at the same quality as the Stuart material. No ghosting at all ... DA-LITE company have a good material as well - but with low light gain. | ||

The big advantage of the SilverFabric process is supposedly that you can roll their screens up for transport with much less damage than the other types. This is in fact borne out by our experience -- we have just set up ours in a fourth location and still see no artifacts of the rolling / unrolling process. |
