I have just known that I can get a VFX1 headset for $300. That's incredible for me, but... I have an AGP GeForce 2 MX Board, and I have read that these helmets don't support AGP. Has anyone tried the VFX1 with this card? If you could please reply to sefirotsp@lycos.com, I would really appreciate.

Nonetheless, I will probably be buying one of those helmets :-)

First of all, I am going to speculate a lot in this message, so please correct me if I say anything wrong. I have read that the VFX1 is not compatible with AGP video cards. Nonetheless, the latest drivers make it run (supposedly, I haven't tried it yet since I haven't got my VFX1) under W98, which at the same time allows multiple Monitors with one video card for each display.

Therefore, I thought that by installing an ISA or PCI secondary video card (for a theoretical secondary monitor), it would be possible to get the helmet working under a brand new system with AGP, just by adding an old video card in one of the free PCI or ISA slots. Am I right? Any suggestions to this? Well, nonetheless I will be trying all my theory (if I don't get the helmet to work with my AGP Creative GeForce 2 MX card) with an ISA Trident 8900D (I imagine there won't be much difference with the ISA Trident 8900C, supported by the VFX1@640x480x256. If you are interested in this test, I will post the results here.

Anything which saves time will be appreciated, thanks.

Dani.

I was just looking through some old messages no the old BBS and found a couple of people that had success with the VFX1 and AGP cards eg. http://www.stereo3d.com/bbs/messages/4523.html(Search for "VFX1 + AGP" from the main page and you should find quite a few responses).

The cards that they mentioned that worked were the ATI Rage Pro AGP 2x and All-In-Wonder Pro AGP 2x. Keep in mind that it would still be only 256 colours 640x480 @60Hz. Good luck all!

Yes there is some AGP Voodoo Rush boards with active feature connectors that I believe will work. I know VRJUNKIE (I like his opinions) knows of a card or two that should work... he has talked about that half a dozen times with different users over the last year or so. :-) $300.00US for a VFX1 is not that greatest price just keep an eye on eBay for sure. No offence to anyone but if you have never used a VFX1 before you might be disappointed. Not saying you will be but I've used them over the last 4-5 years and know the capabilities and limitations. Feel free to drop me an email if you have any questions. Otherwise keep an eye on eBay for sure!

Anyone know what to do to use a all-in-wonder (rage pro ap 2x) with the vfx1. There was a post earlier but I didn't see anything further. I now have one and would be interested in hearing from anyone who got this working. Thanks!
