Hallo,

I hope someone can help me…
I went to www.nvidia.com looking for a new driver for my GeForce FX 5600. There weren't any, but I found this 3D driver "3DStereo 61.76".
After installing it I launch Counter-Strike and all of a sudden this weird static crosses the screen (looks like a phone is ringing nearby) and it won't stop!.
I don't have any 3D hardware, I just installed it because...Well, I didn't think it would do any harm!
I've now uninstalled both the 3D and video driver and reinstalled only the video driver again many times, but the static is still there!!!!!
When I look under add/remove programs it's gone, only the old driver I used (which worked fine, damnit!)is there.

Can someone please help me??? Maybe you've tried this yourself???

Thanks.

Specs:
AMD Athlon XP 2400+ / 2 GHz
512 MB DDR
SPARKLE SP 8831DT - GeForce FX 5600
Windows XP Pro

The new drivers are very buggy! Use the old drivers for now and stay clear of the new ones.

My point is that I've already uninstalled the 3D driver, and I'm using the driver which worked fine before I installed the 3D thingie! Yet,the static still remains!!!

I'm not in the mood for formatting my drive - did that a week ago.

Any help ???

Hi Sponge... I had troubles too.. I corrected them by using an older configuaration of my PC ( a day before installing the driver..) It should work !

Thanks for the advice! (had already tried that)
I found out what the problem was. I opened my puter to see if anything was out of order and the fan on my video-card was broken. After installing a new fan it works again!
My guess is that the fan had been broken for a long time, and the 3D thingie simply made it too hot to handle...
