Bought a 5900XT to replace my ti4400. Really wasn't that much of an improvement. took it back and bought a 9800pro. OMG!!!! what a card. better picture quality, smooth as silk game play that both the ti4400 and 5900XT made look like a slide show. So I guess I'm done with stereoscopic till some ATI drivers hit the market. I'll setup my EYE3D on my computer at work to play with when it's slow. Other than that I'll pop in from time to time to see if there are any tech advances in Steroscopy. I wish you all well in your endevours, and peace and joy in your lives. John | ||

Where have you been for the past few months? New nVidia 6800 cards leaves ALL old ATi cards in the dust. Even beats the unreleased X800XT in most benchmarks... Do a little research on the products next time before going out and blowing all that money  | ||

Butt why would you want to keep spending $500 for a dame new video card, I just don't get it.. Then the games want to come out and get bigger and better, also games are taking 3 years or more to make so that card is good untill the new game is out.. I still have my g4 ti4600 and don't plan to buy for awhile.. Specially if Doom3 plays somewhat good and looks good on the xbox. I'll sac for alittle untill these cards come way down to earth.... Johns right though, maybe in 5 years stereo gaming might be somewheres where we like it to be but now isn't the time.. Plus, have you seen a big change in the last 3 to 4 years in 3d, not me... This discussion has been had a 1000 times before in many different threads... in the end it all comes down to how you look at it. "M" I was not trying to provoke another thread. I am merely pointing out the piculiar choice of getting an "outdated" 9800pro when for $50 more he could have had a vastly superior GeForce 6800, which would run even Doom3 and HL2, and practically any other PS3 game out in next couple of years at more than playable frame rates, IN stereo. Surely, before going out and spending $250, youd want to do a little research on what you are getting In the end, what im sayng is, John should go back and get this new card for the $50 extra. The retailer will probably like the idea as the new card is worth more money = more proffit. Have fun with your xbox. --RAGEdemon | ||

The 9800pro was a $150 open box item. For $150 more I could have gotten a 6800. For $300 more than that I could have a 6800 ultra. For $20,000 more I could have gotten a high resolution stereoscopic projector setup. Get the point??? I have a midrange system because unlike you Rage I don't have an inexhaustible source of positive cashflow. Kind of rude of you to bash on us poor people like that. Oh, BTW I do like the little "x-box" setup I have. If I knew the X-box was capable of a 3Dmark03 score of 6244, TIVO, 80Gb of storage, web surfing, digital 5.1 sound, ... BTW, im a student, currenty with a £6000 debt ($10000) from tuition fees - not exactly the richest guy in the world I think this should go further length to drive home the point in necessity of doing research before going out and spending all that hard earned cash. Its your money of course, do what you will You didnt mention it was a second hand item. For that, why not get a second hand 6800 - "Get the point???" for a little extra. From your first post, all i see is "nvidia and 3d is shite, im going over to ati because their cards are awsome. You fools should do the same" of course in not so many words :D And all im saying is, comparatively, for a little more money, you could have vastly improved performance AND 3D stereo over good increase in performance and NO stereo. How on earth did you get that from my statement? If your girlfriend said to you. "I'd rather go to the movies tonight instead of dinner." Would you make the wildly unjustified accusation? The statement was a true statement based on facts that are substantiated in all the video card comparisons I've seen. Secondly. I've been an active supporter of, and poster in, this forum for 5 years. Logic would dictate that Stereoscopic gaming and it's community are important to me and will be sorely missed. There are sacrifices and compromises that must be made in life. To spend more money on a video card would selfishly deny my family of things that are important to them.
