ok I know that page flip does not work on most LCD screens, but what is the ups and down of both sides, do you lose color, with the red/blue ones?

You cannot get full color images when using red-blue glasses, the red channel is missing since it's only used to create the 3D effect and not for color reproduction, therefore, red objects don't appear red but gray or something else. Some people claim they can improve colors when using leaky cyan glasses, but this causes ghosting which makes the image even worse (my personal impression, I prefer less colors over a image with lots of ghosting).

If you want to get all colors, shutterglasses are necessary. They are more expensive than paper anaglyph glasses and you need a CRT monitor of course. My recommendation: Just try anaglyph glasses first (they are priced below 1$/€ or you might even get them for free or together with an anaglyph DVD), and if you are not satisfied with the results, consider shutterglasses.
