Did anyone try this? How does it work? Is it worth it?

Hehe, that fresnel lens is just large convex lens. Does it work? If you like playing game 3 feet in front of a 30' monitor, yes. It is no magic, just a light weight magnifier.

The lens' on Ebay are cheap and paper thin. You can get the same thing at Office Depot for $5. I have a very nice fresnel lens that I purchased from a disability supplies company. Metal framed with supports that sit under the monitor that allows you to adjust distance. It was like 24" square but I cut it down to 14"x10". I didn't relize how a fresnel worked so I thought "bigger is better", wrong. I built a black foamboard housing for it to keep any light from entering between the monitor and lens. It was very cool with my shutter glasses. It has a blue tint to it which helped offset the darkening of the glasses. Made my 19" Sony Trinitron into a 25" monitor. I've upgraded to a projector and have used the lens supports for my floating desk. I still have the framed lens around here somewhere... Just when and found it in a closet. there's a couple of small surface scratched on it. If you want it I can send it to you postage due as It'll probably just end up getting bounced around and destroyed in the closet.
Let me know.
John
