We have a project that we are working on and we would like to grab our input from our cameras and encode it in some kind of mpeg format. We have a left and right camera, and all we want to do is capture the video and be able to play it back in a standard mpeg player with the left image on the left side and the right image on the right. (when we maximize it, the image will then take up both monitors, and projectors with the images going to their respective outputs.) Any software suggestions would be greatly appreciated, if you know of a language with a well documented library that couldl do this, that will work too. If it comes down to it, we'll write it if we have to.

Thanks

Have a look on the Adobe Premiere plugin SDK if you want to have a profesinal solution. Or have a look on Virtual Dub and 3dtv discusion group on yahoo for some other funny ideas.

Maybe Stereoscopic Player is usefull for you. It can play any 3D video content to two projectors, even if it is not encoded side-by-side.

Ultimately I want both of my images side-by-side in one file. I need something to take me from two separate files, to one with the videos next to each other. Any ideas? Thanks for all the hel p so far btw :)

StereoMovie Maker freeware for the PC will do it...

...or if you are familiar with AviSynth, you can use a script with "StackHorizontal" to do it.
