Low end DLP projectors can be used for passive stereo solutions; typically, there are no pre-filters before the light passes through the lens. Slap glass (or other material that won't melt or warp with heat) polarizers on the front of them and you're all set (um, with appropriate display surface, ofcourse).

LCD: I have tested an Epson 9100 series sXVGA with circular polarizers and it works. I use JVC I-DLA projectors in both, passive linear and circular with success.

Question, someone said that the NEC VT440 could not do 3d, but how come watching the spy kids 3d movie worked pretty good? Would playing from the computer doing games not work?

Anonymous: Do you speak about anaglyph or dual projektor paasive projection ?

General answer - both DLP and LCD projetor works for dual passive projection (including the NEC VT440) ...

Problems:

- Low end DLP nor LCD do not have the correct optic for dual image overlap. Keystone correction is not sufficent. Results are pure ...

- LCD projetors have low contrast (200:1 in comparion to 2000:1 for DLP) . Goot for video, not good for diagrams/presentations

- with wron adjuted polarizers the colors for LCD goes to the hell (green or red/blue image distortion) ...
