I've seen a few products that convert computer games into real (-time) 3D but never one for 3D productivity apps. I don't mean "post" plug-ins, that take conventional renders/animation files [like .avi's] and convert to stereoscopic formats. I mean being able to model [etc] in real 3D. It seems like a natural fit doesn't it?

I get the feeling we'll all have holograpic projection televisions in our livingrooms before being able to work in real 3D on our computers! Sigh.

Off-topic note: i stumbled across a web review claiming the new Toshiba laptop 'free 3d' screen isn't very good. [Vertical stripes, dim, fuzzy text]. Looks like another five years before the revolution arrives. Sorry, didn't note url.

There are stereo "plug-ins" for a few cad softwares.(acad, 3ds viz,mstation...)
Actually modelling in mono mode is easyer than in stereo mode.

"real time" 3D is theoretically possible with any OpenGL application. If the Application has an SDK to give you the hooks into the propper display properties.

MAX and VIZ have a plugin to allow working in stereo mode.
I am working on a VBA script for SolidWorks.
I am hoping to get the updated version of FormZ to write a Script for that as well.

the trouble is that you cut your resolution in half. leaving all the onscreen text virtually unreadable.

It is much easier to work in non-stereo mode but, it is really cool to show work-in-progress to others in stereo.

I've had solidworks and 3dstudio max running in stereoopengl using softquadro, the problem is that there are no stereo option for newer versions of 3dstudio max and solidworks,

bart: what versions of solidworks would be supported?

I am using Solidworks 2004
The macro works the same in 2003

or I should say I can get it to work wrong in both. I have part of the code wrong and I am only getting one side of the stereo image to display. The other image buffer appears to be empty
