Why are they playing 3D movies like Ghosts of the Abyss: Titanic and Spy Kids 3 in theatres that don't have 3D equipment? I didn't go see it, but they did play Ghosts of the Abyss: Titanic in a normal theatre in my area. I don't know what the point would be to see a 3D IMAX movie on a 2D widescreen.

I just read that a Drive-in theatre is going to play Spy Kids 3D. Everyone will expect to see it in 3D. Is it possible a drive-in theatre would have some sort of temporary 3D setup? I doubt they would go to all the trouble, but I hope I'm wrong.

Spykids3d is anaglyph using red/blue glasses which
work well with standard cinema equipment
all they have to do is supply the glasses.

Wow! Is every theatre going to use glasses or do they have a choice? When was the last time they showed an anaglyph movie nationwide(usa) ? This could start another wave of 3D movies if it does well. I know anaglyph isn't very good, but I'm just excited because the closet IMAX 3D to me is 3 hours away and I've only got to see two movies there.

I just read that only parts of Spy Kids 3D will be in 3-D. Does anyone know exactly how much of it is in 3-D?

Most of the film is in 3d, however when you look only through your left eye (red) you see the right eye's image. Atleast in the theater I went to it was that way. I will go somewhere else to confirm however. They could of used "Color Code" to achieve better results. I have been writing to them requesting a "Field Sequential" version when it arrives on dvd, a "Sensio 3d" version would be nice as well.

Spy Kids 3-D had the best plot of any 3-D movie I've seen. I think about only 20 minutes of it is in 2-D. Ghosting was bad at times, but other times I didn't see it all. I do wish they used black and white instead of full color, but people probably wouldn't have liked that. It is the #1 movie in america this week! I really hope they make other 3-D movies while people are excited about it.
