I am trying to buy a camcorder which will suit NuView. 1. In the requirements it says filter thread of the Nu-View is 37 and adapter-rings are available. I checked couple of specifictions online for camcorders; and they are not listing this 'filter thread size' detail. How to find that information ? ( I checked circuitcity.com, bestbuy.com, samsungusa.com) 2. The camcorder is required to have a 'composite video-out' jack which is active during recording. 'composite video-out' means RCA output (Red, Yellow, White) ? 3. Most of the SONY Camcorders I checked doesnt have a 'thread'. They have only 'smooth' rings. Is this correct ? or Am I wrong ? Budget - $400 - $500. Which features are important for good output ? Do you guys recommend a camcorder in this price range ? Thanks | ||

For the NuView you should use a larger camcorder, not the the latest ultra-compact consumer models. If noone can tell you the filter thread of a certain model, forget the model, it may not have a filter thread at all. Maybe you should look for some older model on eBay. You need the yellow RCA output for the sync. This shouldn't be a problem. Virtually all camcorders have it and usually it is active during recording. Christoph | ||

Is digital 8 very inferior to Mini DV or almost the same ? I am checking this DCRTRV250 D8 Sony camcorder. In the specification it says Filter Diameter: 37mm. But in the picture it has got a smooth diameter with no filter thread. Is it possible to remove the outer ring and there will be 'filter ring' inside that ? According quality of recorded signal Digital 8 is an absolute equivalent of MiniDV. The used compression algorithms are identical. Everything depends on the used optic and light conversion chip's ... | ||

I think I was confused with the outer 'thread like thing' which exists outside the lens in some cameras (most of them rotates. what is it there for ?). Today I went to circuit city and asked the sales guy. He showed me how the additional lenses fit in. He doesn't know whats the use of the outside thread like thing. I don't know if the digital 8 will sinc right with the NuView or not.I read somwhere that there was a prob with NuView and digital sincing right together. I would like to get a sony digital 8 or mini digital to use with NuView but I don't know if digital sinc's right with NuView. If you find out wat digital cam's work with NuView please post it here. The Nu-View works fine with my Sony TRV-900 which uses mini-DV. But note my Sony has a 52mm lens so I need to zoom in a little. A friend of mine bought a Sony Digital 8 camcorder and hasn't had a problem with the Nu-View either. Sorry though, I don't remember his model number... | ||

Thank's for the info.... I'm not sure where I read Nu-View had a prob with some digital cam's...I'll have to look for it and post it if I can find it. Maybe it was an old problem Nu-View had with digital cam's. digital is everywhere, you would think Nu-View would have to work with them... | ||

The digital cameras deliver a standard analogue, PAL or NTSC signal which can be detected by NuView. There would only a problem if on some cameras the analogue signal isn't in sync with the digital recording. I never heard of such a camera though. Usually it should work. I'm not shure about the upcoming HDTV consumer cameras. They can do interlace, but the question is if NuView can get a sync on the HDTV-analogue output. If a digital camera has a progressive scan mode it has to be deactivated in order to record stereo. Christoph | ||

The new JVC consumer HD cam does not support a interlaced HD mode, as far as I know. As a result, it cannot be used with NuView in HD mode, regardless of analog outputs (and for SD mode it is too expensive). | ||

Ok Guys, after 1 month of researching about 3D, 2 days ago I got Sony TRV 250 Digital 8 camcorder. And yesterday I got the NuView adaptor. The problem is I dont have CRT monitor; I am using Sterescopic Player to test my new NuView in my laptop. I am not very satisfied so far with the results. Hopefully I will learn soon to make good use of the product. The resolution of the video .avi file I downloaded from TRV 250 with NuView is 320 x 240 (shown in the properties dialog box of Microsoft Media Player). The image is very small and not clear. Am I doing something wrong, or is it the maximum resolution I can get with TRV 250 with NuView ? Thanks SK | ||

Can you copy your Digital8 recording to a vcr tape and watch it on a tv with the NuView ? Or connect your Trv 250 with a video cable to your TV or VCR and watch it on TV ? You don't have to use a PC to watch your video do you ? can't you use a TV ? | ||

### The resolution of the video .avi file I ### downloaded from TRV 250 with NuView is 320 x 240 The NuView records the 3D video in interlaced mode. This means one left line, one right line, one left line and so on. You MUST capture the full resoltion of the video (480 lines for NTSC, 576 lines for PAL) to your PC. If the video is scaled down to 240 lines, it is very likely that the 3D effect is lost! The easiest way to capture full resolution is to capture in DV mode using a Firewire connection. Look in your laptops manual if it has a Firewire, 1394 or iLink port. | ||

I downloaded the video using USB, since I couldnt get iLink to work. I have Sony DCR TRV 250 and it is always saying 'DV IN'. I could not change it to 'DV OUT'. I checked the menus and could not find anything to change it. If anybody knows about this please let me know. Thanks, SK | ||
