I'm a total newbie. Does anybody know of any 3d video cards for Macs? What would I need?

It depends on what you try to achieve.
Gaming is a problem.

Images, animations and videos will work on any video card if they have the right format (such as over-under) and if your glasses-controller has manual override (like i-Art 4-in-1).

For professional applications there may be solutions for Mac, although this isn't a preferable platform for stereo-applications.
Check http://www.stereographics.com/ for a list of prof. software.

I'm in the same boat-- trying to playback 3D movies I've shot with the NuView and edited in Final Cut.

So, Christoph... You're saying that with the right glasses, I can just plug the adaptor into my monitor, and if the video (Quicktime, Final Cut, whatever) is in the right format (pageflip, etc), the glasses can be adjusted to view in 3d, with no drivers necessary?
