True. I am a big fan of The Night of the Living Dead and 3D films and wanted to see it in a 3D format.Hoping it would be kind of fun, I was wrong. Its one of those where you find yourself constantly hunting for a 3D image. The company that put it out in 3D even went so far as to try and save it by adding "3D CGI blood".All of wich looks very hokey.

"The company that put it out in 3D even went so far as to try and save it by adding "3D CGI blood"."

Dear God! How many times are they going to bastardize this classic film? First John Russo's awful "Anniversary" cut with newly shot footage and now this? Thanks for the tip. I will avoid at all costs.

Make no mistake, some 3D-DVD's out there contain genuine 3D-movies, which were filmed or rendered in stereo.

Please check my list of 3D-movies at http://www.stereo3d.com/movchart.htm

Does anybody know if Camp Blood was filmed in 3D? I'm pretty sure it's converted, but I'm not 100 percent sure.

The good news is "Camp Blood" was filmed in 3-D. The bad news is it was shot on video using a Nu-View 3-D attachment, so it's not as nice as a true twin rig video or film shot 3-D feature.

"Night of the Living Dead" sadly is in the public domain, so anyone can take a copy and colorize it, convert it to 3-D, add new crap, etc etc and are within rights to do so. :(

Greg,
I have the "Nightmare on Elm street" that was shot in 3D (that little part anyway), but for the life of me I can't see any 3D! I've tried playing it on the TV, on my computer monitor, but nothing, any tips?

There's two problems with the Nightmare on Elm Street anaglyph 3-D finale:

1) NTSC and PAL video's color bandwidth is simply horrible from an anaglyph standpoint. And to top it off every consumer video format, be it in analog or digital, reduces the color (chroma) bandwidth ever further. Computers, on the other hand, treat color with respect so anaglyph 3-D cancel's out better with the red/blue glasses. For those with a "video out" on their computer, here's a fun experiment: Take any BMP or JPEG anaglyph image and feed it from your PC directly to a PAL or NTSC television. Chances are it won't look too bad when viewed in 3-D. Now tape it... on *any* video format- be it analog or digital (DVD-R, DV, Tivo, VHS, S-VHS, 3/4" etc etc) and it will certainly look worse (when viewed in 3-D) when it's played back.

2) Nightmare on Elm Street used the Color-anaglyph 3-D format. "Let's keep the original color!" the creator's proclaim. Well there's nothing like seeing a blue sky with red and blue glasses. One eye sees a black sky while the other sees white. That's just one example of color anaglyph gone bad. In an interview the producers of Freddy's Dead said they liked what color anaglyph did to Freddy's red-striped shirt. I thought it made it a shimmering mess! Color anaglyph also takes the already bad anaglyph ghosting problem and makes it worse.

In short it's like the old saying goes: "You can't make chicken salad out of chicken shit." :)
