I've been reading up on some posts on this forum lately, and I've got to admit... I'm a little suprised. I just received this head tracker w/ the FireTracker drivers from www.vrealities.com... it came along with the i-glasses SVGA 3D bundle that they had/have on special.

What I'm surprised about, is all the criticism about the driver for the VirtuaTracker and it's defectiveness. I'm totally new to this 3D/Headtracking stuff, and my equipment with the FireTracker driver works fine. It needed some tuning/tweaking... but even with it's default settings, it isn't near as bad as you guys state. I'm thinking that there must be somethin' wrong with you set-ups or something!

Also, where on EARTH are you gonna find a better deal on that bundle? Heck, I CANCELED my order from www.i-glasses.com because they wanted over $1,000.00 JUST FOR THE I-GLASSES! At www.v-realities.com, I paid the same price and received the i-glasses, WITH the VirtuTracker and the P5-glove. I know they're not the absolute best... but for the buy, you can't complain! Of course a $2,000 head tracking unit will perform better than a $400 one... but again, this $400 one is great, and I've yet to have the problems stated within this forum with the VirtuaTrack drivers (FireTracker)!

Even at that, the new drivers for the VirtuaTracker should be available this week sometime... according to Armand, the representative at vrealities.com! Maybe that will solve some of your guys' problems!

That's good to hear. I had the original drivers and they were unstable and very hard to calibrate. I hope the new ones will perform to your report. I'm sure they will! :-) I can hardly wait. I have no complaints on the performance of my i-glasses, I think they're a very good deal and have enjoyed them so far. Once I get the new drivers I'll be one VERY happy camper. The added immersion will be very cool I think.

Glad you're having such good luck with yours!!

Eric

Hey Eric, I too am still waitin' for the new drivers! I can't wait... since it has the POV-HAT support... much needed for virtual cockpit mode in Flight Sim 2002 Pro!

Also, at one time I tried to make my own drivers for the VirtuaTracker... but I must say, it was JUST FOR FUN (to see if I could do it)... and I don't think I'd try again. No matter what I tried... I just couldn't get the feedback from the VT to operate even REMOTELY as smooth as the FireTracker. I've been a programmer for over 15 years, so I give the developer of this device driver my regards. It's a challenge, and he's done ALOT better than anyone that I know could probably do!

Also, I'm not a rep of vrealities.com (almost sounded like it in the first post)... but I am VERY pleased with my order! I thought I did extensive searching when I ordered my initial order directly from IO Displays (www.i-glasses.com)... but at the LAST moment, I found vrealities.com. Coincedental... yes, and glad I did! Definitely got more for money!

Anyhow guys, the new driver WILL be better than before (that's why updates are released). Even if some are experiencing problems... they WILL get solved. Just hang in there... and if you're needing advice on configuration, this is the place to get it! I'll help all those that I can! I'm not sure why some are experiencing more problems than others... but not all PCs are exactly alike!

Hi all. Sorry I haven't been around much lately - just been really busy with some big projects. I should have more free time soon though. Thanks for the compliments on the driver - we'll keep working on it. Please let me know if you come up with any good ideas or profiles for FireTracker. I like the Euler Angle mode myself but it takes a bit of tweaking to make it smooth. Oh well - got to get some sleep now. Been up for the last 36 hours finishing something up. ;-)

Ciao,

John B.
