inexpensive fresnel lense w/stand. I found this via a couple of posts on usenet. They use these things (the lenses) in plane simulators. I hear they make your monitor look huge and farther away for added immersion/perspective.

I ordered one (30 inches) for $50. I have a 21 inch monitor and I hope this lense kicks ass. Tell me about your experiences. How far does it have to be from your monitor? I'm wondering if I'll have enough desk space. I'm surprised more people aren't on to them.

Anyone use a fresnel lense with shutter glasses?

Thanks.

Bart,
I expect it to work w/shutterglasses too but the image may look blur.

Bleh, i wouldn't want to see my screen huge like that. It would be blurred with lines through it.

Now if you had an HDTV...

point it at a white wall, and you have a projector. put a black cardboard box around it to make a frame.

well i got the fresnel lens (aka screen enlarger) today and its seems to work really well. I'm not using it as a projector, I simply set it up between me and the monitor, which was my plan. I haven't fooled around with it with shutter 3d glasses much, but it seems to work... I'll write something up once I fool around more and tweak it. When my friends come over and I slap on Nascar2002 with the glasses they're gonna crap their pants. i played gta3 for a little bit and it definately feels more immersive even w/o glasses since the screen looks so big. cruising down the street in GTA3 looks pretty tight, makes my comp look like a hardcore video game appliance.

i didn't buy it for work, so the fact that small text is a little bit softer (though easily readable) doesn't surprise nor bother me. while on the desktop i notice that in the corners of the screen there is a little distortion though I can still read things fine. However, i only notice this while on the desktop b/c of small type, not in games. For gaming it kicks ass! I'm going to go play some nascar2002, then I'll post a full review, maybe tomorrow.
