Just got my i-glasses today, and while there is a proper review coming (it will be published elsewhere), here are my initial impressions:

1. Documentation is awful - it's bare bones, and leaves you with no idea about how the unit should sit on your head, and there's little info on how to use the 3D mode with Nvidia's drivers - they don't even mention how to fix the 60hz problem, so many people could return these thinking they're far too flickery.

2. Blurriness - I got the same blurry screen that everyone else has. I put my glasses on, and it fixed the problem somewhat, but there are still blurry 'patches' (the center and bottom of the screen) - nothing of a showstopper really, but it means I won't be using this over a desktop or laptop monitor for extended periods

3. Viewsize - the part of the frame nearest my face prevents me from seeing the entire screen at the same time - I have to take the padding off (painful) to get my eyes closer to alleviate this

4. Stereoscopic mode is awesome, once you wiggle through getting the right Nvidia drivers, and hacking the refresh rate. I probably won't use this headset too often for gaming, however, as the display is not clear enough to let me spot distant enemies as easily as on a CRT screen.

5. Sometimes it just crashes. Changing video mode sometimes confuses it into displaying garbled video, or just going black and not recovering until a system reboot. Particularly noticable when using stereoscopic mode. This may have more to do with Nvidia's drivers, however.

6. The headphones aren't all that crash hot, they don't fit too comfortably, and tend to get in the way.

Despite these issues, I am pleased with my purchase, and I belive that the unit will serve me well in what I will be using it for (Augmented Reality)

Disclaimer: These are initial impressions based upon 5 hours of use - I may not have properly researched fixes to any problems I've encountered.

Questions and comments welcome.

- Glen

Why is EVERYONE getting this blurry CRAP! IS this the problem with the cy-visor's as well? IM mean for coming out with a price of $1500 at first just because it gave you wooooweee 800X600... Whats with this picture, why is the screen blurry?

Thank GOD I didn't purches these as I was going to!! Seems like just a waste of money and TIME just to get stereo3d without the ghosting.. Nice quick review Glen

Got mine in and am very happy with it. Not blurry at all. It looks as if you guys have a bad headset.

I suspect the blurriness is due to the focal length being set at 13' - which would explain why my glasses help the situation. I don't think I could read a 73" monitor at 13' set at 800x600, which is what the i-glasses are supposed to emulate.

That said, the top-left of the screen is almost always in perfect focus, even without the glasses, so there is obviously something strange going on.

JC - how good is your vision? have you ever needed glasses?

Isn't a requirement of fixed-focus optics that your vision be 20/20 (or corrected to it)?

I wear contacts, and that's one thing I liked about the ole VFX1 - its adjustable focus per eye. I could re-set the focus and wear it without my contacts (then take it off and go trip over something).

Thanks for the word on the new i-glasses, Glen.

Yes, i have pass some time with the glasses and to be honest , this is a pain in the ass wear it. But better after you found the right place..it s better.
but so cheap in the design. the headphone is.... terrible. i mean i will probably cut it soon to put on my 40$ koss that is 1000% better, but the problems is that i will have to wear another wire. the screen is really good BUT effectively the corner are blurry. BUT the cause isn t the screen, it s perfect! But it s the place your eyes see in a normal position. the glasses just not fit in the right place like normal glasses. so you have to be uncomfortable to see right.
the wires is another problems that u don t see on the pub. it s so big! it s become a reel problems when u have a head tracker.
BUT my friend , it s not all that bad lol
the stereo experience is really really cool.
awesome i could say. ( but when it s work lol )
i just have to return my glasses after a weeks cause i haved field swapping problems :(.
And dont think playing starcraft or anygame u have to read tiny tiny characters.
it possible but hard for your eyes.
but i have really to play more when i have it back to tell u the reel verdict.
But again it s not that bad, and maybe really really cool.
i have play rayman 3 in 3d mode and Wow it s soo sweat. like a imax movie. on a 17 inch screen lol
so if u consider buying this. U MUST BY THE 3D VERSION .
at least, that is sure. 10/10.
the rest.... i have to play more.
see u
