So how's the new XVGA HMD coming along? Don't forget the headtracking. Is it possible to put true suround sound in a HMD so you can hook right into the front and rear channel plugs ? I've really gotten used to my 5.1 setup. I've got $1500 earmarked for it so let me know if I need to put back a little more.
TTYL,
John

Hola,

Coming along nicely. No release date yet, but sometime next year. $1500, should be perfect if you want 3 of them.

I really hope you guys come through on this one,Steve. It could give the VR market exactly what it needs! A nice consumer priced HMD.

Steve,
You prolly don't even remember me, but I think I buged you a while back with my VFX1, it was having a problem, you guys were really cool about it and fixed it for me...
Anyway, I was always a fan of IIS, all the way back when you guys were called forte, actually my VFX1 still says Forte :)
Don't listen to these disgruntled guys man, you are trying hard to put a product in a very tight market and I apreciatte it very much, I had to skip the VFX3d, unfortunately, mainly because I got mu VFX1 working with modern vid cards, alas with no stereo, but that's ok.
I'm really looking forward to your next product, it sounds really sweet, and you have a sure costumer here.....:)
See you out there: Marvio Costa dos Santos

I have to agree with Jared. Steve and IIS are really going to look bad when they don't come through with this thing, it has already been two years guys!

Well I've tried the vfx3d, and I can say this!! For the money that we can spend and for the immersive 3d that we want, we wont be seeing that for a while.. BIG bucks for the fov and high res.. Im gonna wait and just use the damn old glasses and look at my monitor, also I'ts really hard moving around and trying to aim with your head, that's my opinion. I injoy just seeing the 3d part. I dont think spending $1500 for a really short fov at 800x600 helps any either.. Give me atleast 60fov with good 3d and under $1500 and Im a buyer, but for now, only the rich can have what we want...... :( always been always will..
Take care.. Im done

All I can say is that the HMD you guys (and us) have wanted for a long time has been impossible to build up until the last 2 years or so. The displays and optics etc, just have not been available at a price any of us want to pay. The rest of the stuff is easy, the gating item has always been the displays. Don't believe me, research them yourselves. I am certain us or someone else will launch a high res large FOV HMD next year at a consumer price point, just based on the now available technology. I would apologize for the delay, but did anyone notice that the whole tech industry is having a hard time right now? Being a small company we are particularly sensitive to economic conditions, but we are still here and will be into the future.

I just posted a similar message on another thread, but I will re-iterate here. With all the increasingly low cost (and popular) high resolution LCD and DLP projectors that are now available, is there no way this technology can be incorporated into a HMD? Surely being used in such popular devices that are now in a lot of homes the price points must be coming down on this technology.

Annonymous,
I didn't mean on this trhead specifically, but it's always the case, unfortunately, that when Steve posts, somebody will attack IIs for no good reason at all! None that I can see anyway, like I said before, these guys are trying, in an industry that's very tight, just give them a little breathing room, and I'm sure they'll deliver.
I'm personally very excited about their next HMD... :)

IIS may be pulling strings but I beleive they have done a decent job in a field that is very narrow. There is not much to work with when the surrounding world doesnt care. I personally still use and like the VFX1.
And why dont you post your name Anonymous?

Same here kevin,
I have no idea why people put down the VFX1 so much, I bought mine for $500, way back when, and let me tell you, the unit did everything they said it would, it works flawlessly up to this date, now, of course, it has its limitations, and I understood that before buying it, so, what't the grudge?

Jared,

You mean you want IIS to hold off on making announcements until until they have an actual product ready for delivery? Ok. Well, then you might want to pass that on to every other company that has ever announced their "intentions" *cough* *cough* *Microsoft* without having something to actually show.

Jared,
Like Neil said, every other company does a "paper lauch" before actually having the final hardware, mainly to let the market know and to attract more investors. I quite like it, specially in a market like VR, in which product updates can take 2 years or more, at least we know what they are working on.
And like I said before, IIs never lied about the capabilities and price of their products, and if they say they have a SVGA HMD for less then $300, WOW! I'm very excited!

The word BULLSHIT comes to mind. You may buy IIS's crap, I don't. I personally hate the VFX1 and VFX3D. Hot, heavy headsets with poor resolution and now a SVGA HMD for $300.00! Yeah, I have some swamp land to sell you in Arizona too, real cheap :)

Just my point of view, you don't have to agree you know :)

I think the design of the VFX1 and VFX3D helmets was good. When I think of HMD's this is the type of helmet I think of. I want to be cutoff from the outside world when using my VRGear.

It seems that you have some kind of grudje with them? I can't see why though...

Jared,
Why don't you save your undeservedly harsh criticisms until next year if Steve and his gang don't deliver. Say on your 14th birthday... On a side note, I've never read any post by you other than those to tear others down. I'm guessing you don't even own any stereoscopic equipment or have researched the field at all. You are nothing but blight on this forum and it is my personal opinion that Chris should allow posts from registered forum members only and exclude you and others like you. Go ahead and flame me as I'm sure you will but please borrow a dictionary from your mommy or daddy because there are more descriptive and less barbaric words in the English language than sh*t.

Hi Steve,
Haven't seen you around the board here in a while. How's the new unit coming? Is it going to be a spring arrival? I just bought a new house so I'm a little cash poor for a couple of months and there's the GeForceFX that needs buyin' as well so early summer will be o.k. :)
