Dear Folks,

I have created a 3D stereo image viewer for the ELSA products that works in non exclusive mode, based on MFC document view architecture.

The program supports hi-rate full resolution page flipping. I was able to acomplish this because the german ELSA engineers revealed how their drivers enabled page flipping and the necessary display surfaces required.

ELSA is defunct. I am trying to expand the hardware supported by the viewer application to support nVidia and ATI based boards with various
LCD glasses. I have evaluated Win3D and discovered it only supports EXCLUSIVE FULL SCREEN
display modes for page flipping, not what I need.

Does anyone have access to the software interface specifications for the ATI and nVidia drivers???

I am willing to write directly to the HAL layer in WinNT and straight to the board in Win9x.

The App already works fine with interlace displays
but full res flipped displays looks much better.

Thanks,
Dennis

Dennis: Implemen OpenGl in window-fullscreen modes. Almost evrybody has already hacked its GeForce X to Quadro X and this method has now a wide support ...
On the other way - what is wrong on EXCLUSVE FULL SCREEN mode in winx3d ? The full screen only ?
I thing that it will be realy a hard work to implement so wide HW support as Winx3D does yourself

Dear MH,
Thanks for the reply,

I could render in OpenGL, but wouldn't that still require a wrapper to drive the LCD glasses? Most of the wrappers I have seen seem to use Z-buffer contents to generate stereo images. I use stereo photographic images, and am not sure how to generate apropriate Z-buffer data. Moreover the Wicked3D wrapper demo seems to work on specific games, I did not get the feeling it was a general solution.

For the EXCLUSVE FULLSCREEN issues, see the
"Win3d & win2000 refresh rates limited to 60hz" topic.

The ELSA drivers (nVidia chipset) for their Gladiac board do support windowed hi-rate full resolution page flipping. I thought I read somewhere that the latest nVidia drivers only support EXCLUSVE FULLSCREEN page flipping.

I am still looking for software interface specifications for the ATI and nVidia drivers.

Thanks,
Dennis

Denis: OpenGl does not need any wrapers nor Z buffer for stereoscopic rednering. It have commads fro rendering buffer selection glBuffer(BACK_LEF) or something like that ...
But you will need a graphic card with this futers implemented (Quadro,Oxygen, Wildcat, graphic card with SciTech GLDirect instaled and correctly working)
