Is it possible to have a digital illustration printed to appear 3D - without the use of glasses?

I vaguely remember seeing some cards that were coated with a thick layer of plastic, and the image seemed to have dimension to it.

Thanks

www.3d-easy.de and www.iart3d.com sell lenticular kits with image processing software and lenticular sheets.

Both look OK, though I haven't managed to get the pictures to look really professional yet.
