What happens with most 100Hz-PAL-TV's in NTSC mode? Do they show 120Hz or do they digitally convert the NTSC signal to 100Hz?

Are there 100 Hz TV's which can be switched back to 50 Hz?

Dear Christoph,
first of all congratulations to your fantastic site.

In reply to your question I am actually checking the 100Hz Problem with some TV Manufactuers. I will keep you informed with the results.

The problem I am facing is:
1. Do the TVs repeat the Frames in AA BB or in AB AB Mode.
2. How can we trigger the shutterglasses properly? With the AA BB Mode The signal should be refreshed twice in a shutter opening phase. However I have to test what will happen.
The AB AB Mode seems the best to me, but I would have to double the frequency of the shutter still triggering on a 50 Hz signal. Do you know anybody who could help me out on that matter?

Some answers:

1) No. The TV works in AA'BB' modes.
B' and A' images are obtained by interpolation
betwen surrounding images.
It makes stereoscopy impossible ...
I have checked it in e.g. SONY materials describing the 100/120 Hz technology and
with several TV technicans as well ....
Some special TV from Love Opta company
can work in ABAB mode witch is originaly optimized
for still images visulisation (and probaly optimal for hi freq. as well stereoscopy)

2) I am just testing a device witch sync. to the
input video signal to the TV externaly. You can get a signal in TL logic at 50 or 60 Hz frequence
by the help of e.g. NuShades wired glasses control box (it have an output for glasses working with VESA min-DIN3 conector standard). The signal in standard TTL logic is on this conector. The device witch I am testing is duplicating this logical signal exactly in one half to higer frequence. From --++--++--++ it makes -+-+-+-+-+-+ (++ or -- is de facto one continuous logic signal of 1/50 or 1/60 s lenght.
+ and - have 1/100 or 1/120 s lenght ...
The device is realtively simple, based on one IO ...
It will be possible to sync by this signal externaly to any 100/120 MHz
TV working in ABAB mode .... I will test it with
the Love Opta TV in ABAB mode soon ....

Any news regarding my initial question?

What frequency is a usual 100 Hz TV using on a NTSC-source?

a) 60 Hz
b)100 Hz
c)120 Hz

I hope the answer is 120 Hz, but I fear it's 100Hz.

And the other question again:

Are there 100 Hz TV's which can be switched back to 50 Hz?
