I realy dont understand why 3D ver of HMDs like i-glasses SVGA and others cost almost doubble the 2D ver. Most already have 2 LCDs which I thought was the most costly part. Shutter glasses can understand left and right from one signal and cost as low as $80 or less. I realy dont mind paying a little more but 60% to 100% more is unfair. I think its a scam to get your money but if someone could explain why they cost soo much more without any doubble talk that would be nice.

Here is a cut from another post that says mostly the same thing.

"Personally I think it's a shame there are so many non-3D-headsets, especially because most of them already have 2 seperate displays, which are the most expensive parts in there. Just a little wiring and electronics is missing."

Please give your opinions. I would like to read them.

HMDs need to separete left and right video signal (for example de-multiplex the interlaced signal) while shutterglasses need only to flicker in-sync ... a very different thing.
Anyway I agree this is mostly a commercial issue.
Giorgio.

So, in this vein are there and tracking 2d glasses? I'd be interested in one that could be used for games like counter strike but would allow head motion to control pointing and therefore allow both hands free for motion and other commands.
